Village of Plainfield E-News Updates - 8/16/24

The Plainfield Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the last Cruise Night of the season on Tuesday, August 20.

Be sure to check out the classic cars in Downtown Plainfield from 5:30-8:30 p.m. 

This week, the bridge contractor mobilized for site layout and tree removal. Bridge deck removal is scheduled to begin early next week. The removal efforts will continue into the following week.
Please follow the posted detour for 127th Street or use alternate routes. Your continued patience and cooperation are sincerely appreciated as the bridge repair continues.

Preconstruction activities and site preparation began this week. Installation of erosion and sediment control fencing will continue into next week. In-stream work and culvert removal within the limits of the Spring Hole Creek will follow. Indian Boundary Road will remain closed to through traffic between Rowley Road and Creekside Drive. 

The Consolidated Election will be held on April 1, 2025. The Village will have the Village President position and three Trustee positions open. Each position is for a four-year term. The first day to circulate petitions for the Consolidated Election is Tuesday, August 20, 2024. A Public Information Meeting for the 143rd Street East Roadway Extension has been scheduled on August 28 at Village Hall. The meeting will run from 5-7 p.m. and will focus on the details of the project, the construction schedule, and what to expect during construction. The contractor has indicated construction will begin after Labor Day. Village Staff as well as the design and construction teams will be at the meeting and available for questions. 143rd Street website.

On Lockport Street, crews are installing storm sewer between Dillman and Center Streets. Once complete, pavement removals will begin. On Eastern Avenue, crews are finalizing the remaining concrete work and asphalt pavement before starting work on street lighting.

The installation of new sections of asphalt path, between River Road and Route 59, is substantially complete. Remaining paving work along the River Road section will be completed this Saturday. Installation of the flashing beacons is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 19, followed by pavement markings and parkway restoration.

Installation of asphalt path has been completed from Arbor Drive to IL US Route 30. The remaining concrete work is scheduled to be completed by next week, followed by pavement markings and parkway restoration.

Residents are invited to attend the Senior Health & Wellness Fair on August 28, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the C.W. Avery Family YMCA, 15120 Wallin Drive. The fair is designed to help connect seniors to a variety of services and resources in and around the Plainfield area. For more information, click here.

The Village is hosting a community blood drive on Monday, September 16, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., at Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street. Blood that is collected will go to area hospitals to help those in need.  Please make an appointment to donate by clicking here. Walk-ins are welcome.
