Village of Plainfield E-News Updates - 6/21/24

Pack up the kids, chairs, and bug spray and head to Settlers' Park tonight! The Village and Plainfield Park District are showing Migration (PG, 82 minutes) at 8:30 p.m. Plus, you can visit with the Police Department, Fire Protection District, and Plainfield Area Public Library. Due to the forecast, Waste Management will begin service early on Monday, June 24.

Please make sure that your refuse, recycling, and yard waste are at the curb by 5 a.m.

The Police Department is serving up ice cream around town this summer. Next Wednesday, June 26, from 6-8 p.m., they will be at Settlers' Park. Be sure to stop by and have some free ice cream. Check the schedule to find out when they will be in your area! 

The Northern Illinois Food Bank will be holding a Mobile Food Pantry at St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 S. Route 59, on June 27 from 4:30-6 p.m. The Mobile Food Pantry provides healthy food to those in need.

The annual Fireworks show is Wednesday, July 3 at Bott Park! The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.

• Refuse collection will be one day late all week after the holiday.

The contractor continues to work on the reconstruction of Johnson Road as well as roadway widening operations along Ridge Road. While Johnson Road is closed, traffic will be rerouted on to IL 126. The closure and detour are scheduled to remain in place until mid-August. Please be aware of potential traffic delays due to construction on Ridge. The Village’s 2024 Street Improvement Program is underway. The project includes asphalt resurfacing, removal and replacement of selected areas of concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter removal and replacement, pavement striping, and other miscellaneous items.
