Village of Plainfield E-News Updates - 7/21/23

Crews are scheduled to install the permanent pavement markings on Ridge Road on Saturday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 25. A road closure will be in place for short durations while crews perform the work. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the work zone and flagged around construction operations as necessary.

The water main connection at IL 126 is scheduled to be completed next week. Eastern Avenue at Route 126 is scheduled to reopen mid-week and work will transition to Eastern at the railroad crossing. Eastern will be closed at the railroad crossing for approximately 2-3 weeks. Once Eastern Avenue is completed, work will transition back to Lockport Street and the railroad tracks to complete the project. 

The Village is hosting a community blood drive on Wednesday, August 23, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., at Village Hall, 24401 W. Lockport Street. Blood that is collected will go to area hospitals to help those in need. Please make an appointment to donate by clicking here. Walk-ins are welcome.

Pack up the kids, chairs, and bug spray and head to Settlers' Park on Friday, July 28! We're showing The Bad Guys, sponsored by Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc., at 8:30 p.m. Before the movie, you can visit with the Plainfield Public Library, the Fire District, and Police Department. Plus, the Mr. Salty's Popcorn Truck will have great snacks available for sale. The 2023 Movie Series is sponsored by Illinois American Water. 

The Police Department is hosting National Night Out at Settlers' Park on Tuesday, August 1 from 5-8:30 p.m. A new sensory hour has been added from 4-5 p.m.

Stop by and join in the fun! There will be bounce houses, a dunk tank, a Touch-A-Truck, live music, and free food!

The Police Department's Armored Truck Challenge will be held on August 1, in conjunction with National Night Out, at the Village Hall. The event benefits the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. For more information, click here.

Concerts in Settlers' Park continue on Thursday, August 3, at 7 p.m., with a performance by The Wayouts. The 2023 Settlers' Park Concert Series is sponsored by Illinois American Water. To view the complete schedule of concerts, visit plainfieldil.gov.

The Village is updating its Comprehensive Plan and needs your input! Join us on Wednesday, August 30, at 7 p.m., for a 143rd Street Corridor Community Visioning Workshop and on Thursday, August 31 for a Downtown Visioning Workshop. Both workshops will be held at Village Hall. Attendees will identify priorities, issues, and opportunities in the Village and then participate in a mapping exercise to develop their vision for Plainfield's future.
