Shooting Investigation (ARREST)

Previously Reported: (PEORIA, IL) On Saturday, September 5, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Peoria Police Department officers responded to the 3000 block of N. Wisconsin Avenue for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival, officers observed an adult male, identified as 18-year-old Marquise R. Paul, fleeing the area on foot. Paul was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident. Officers located a discarded firearm along the flight path of Paul.
Responding officers located two male juvenile victims, ages 3 and 10, inside the residence where the shooting occurred. Both victims sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
As the investigation continued, Paul was transported to the Peoria Police Department, where he was interviewed by detectives.
He was subsequently arrested for Obstructing/Resisting a Police Officer and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
This case remains under active investigation as detectives continue to seek individuals involved in this incident.
UPDATE: 9/8/26
During the course of the investigation, detectives identified a 16-year-old male as a suspect in the incident.
At approximately 5:00 p.m. on September 7, 2026, the juvenile and family members arrived at the Peoria Police Department. Following an interview with detectives, the juvenile was taken into custody and arrested for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Handgun Under 21.
Officers then transported the juvenile to the Juvenile Detention Center.
This investigation remains ongoing.
