Agg. Unlawful Possession of a Weapon/No FOID

(PEORIA, IL) On Saturday, September 5, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Peoria Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Monroe and Spalding Streets.
During the traffic stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. All occupants were removed from the vehicle and detained while officers conducted the search.
During the search, officers located two firearms inside the vehicle.
Officers subsequently arrested 18-year-old Eric L. Griffin Jr. for Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Under 21, Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card, and Possession of Ammunition without a FOID Card. The remaining two occupants were released at the scene.
Griffin was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
