Possession of a Machine Gun PPD Incident #26- 58896
(PEORIA, IL) On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at approximately 1:46 a.m., Peoria Police officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of N. Sheridan Road in response to a report of illegal drug activity.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle parked in the area with three male occupants inside. During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to search the individuals.
During a search of 30-year-old Lamontre L. Walker, officers located a firearm equipped with an automatic switch. The firearm was also reported stolen.
Officers also located illegal drugs on 37-year-old Elliot M. Hughes.
The third male was released from the scene.
Walker and Hughes were transported to the Peoria Police Department for further investigation.
Walker was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID Card, Possession of a Machine Gun/Automatic Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Hughes was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver, Unlawful Delivery of Cannabis, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.
Both Walker and Hughes were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
