Aggravated Battery with a Firearm PPD Incident #26-48397
(PEORIA, IL) On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at approximately 3:19 p.m., Peoria Police officers responded to the intersection of Hayes Street and Western Avenue following a report of a person shot.
Upon arrival, officers located a 62-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
During the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspected shooter as 35-year-old Anthony D. Gaston Jr. A short time later, officers located Gaston Jr. at a residence in the 1700 block of S. Faraday Street and took him into custody without incident.
Gaston Jr. was arrested for Aggravated Battery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and four active warrants.
He was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
