Unlawful Use of a Weapon PPD Incident #26- 36768
(PEORIA, IL) On Monday, June 8, 2026, at approximately 1:06 a.m., officers with the Peoria Police Department conducted a traffic stop for a traffic light violation in the 3600 block of N. University Street.
During the traffic stop investigation, officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded handgun equipped with an extended magazine and an illegal conversion device, commonly referred to as a "switch," capable of converting the firearm to fully automatic operation.
The occupants were identified as 19-year-old Jaevon A. Irby-Buckner and a 17-year-old female juvenile.
Following the investigation, Irby-Buckner and the juvenile were arrested for: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm with no valid FOID.
Irby-Buckner was transported to the Peoria County Jail.
The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
