Oswego property owners will see a 3% decrease in the Village of Oswego’s property tax rate on their upcoming tax bills.
The Village Board approved a tax levy, which is the total amount of property taxes collected, of $1,716,117, or a rate of 0.14254. This rate is a 3 percent decrease in the Village’s tax rate applied to properties within the Village. This is the largest tax levy rate decrease for the Village of Oswego since 2015 when the decrease was 4.6%, and the lowest tax rate since 2009. Learn more.

As the end of the year quickly approaches, we wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season. Please note that garbage will not be collected on December 25 and January 1. During these two weeks, collection will be delayed by one day.
Village Hall facilities will be closed December 25 and 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday, and January 1 in observance of New Year's Day.
Police and Public Works employees will continue to work on the holidays to ensure our community remains safe and operational.

Are you expecting Santa to bring you a new monitor, microwave or fridge? Groot, the Village's waste contractor, offers curbside electronics recycling to Oswego residents by appointment. Most items are picked up for free, except for larger TVs. Review Groot's electronics recycling list before putting items on the curb. Find out TV costs and make an appointment at least 24 hours ahead by calling Groot at 630-892-9294.
Want to drop off your electronics? The Oswego Area Chamber of Commerce offers a monthly Electronics Recycling event on the last Thursday of each month. This month's event is on December 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chamber's location, 25 E. Jackson Street. A $15 cash fee is required for items such as TVs, microwaves, vacuums, printers, lightbulbs and refrigerators. View the Chamber's flyer for additional information.

Groot Industries will collect Christmas trees after the holidays through the second full week of January (January 2 until January 12). Place your bare tree free of lights, ornaments, tinsel or any decorations by the curb on your normal garbage day collection day. Please do not place your tree in a plastic bag.
Waste stickers are not required for this free collection.

Oswego residents are invited to attend the first Community Kauffee with Village President Ryan Kauffman at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 13 at the Police Department, 3355 Woolley Road.
Coffee and breakfast treats will be served at 8:30 a.m. President Kauffman will share information about the Village’s financial position and answer questions at 9 a.m.
