Back-to-school season is here. As the Village begins to bustle once again with children of all ages and school buses, the Police Department shares these reminders:
Do not stop on or block the streets around schools.
Do not pass a stopped school bus with its stop sign arm out and red lights flashing.
All school buses stop at train tracks. Do not pass buses on railroad crossings.
The speed limit in all school zones when children are present is 20 mph.
Always stop for pedestrians, especially in crosswalks.
Extra police enforcement will be conducted in all school zones, especially during the first few weeks of school. Please drive carefully. Thank you for helping to keep the community safe.
Vet Fest this Saturday
Vet Fest returns to Venue 1012 this Saturday, August 12 at 6 p.m. with a performance by Bruce in the USA, a Bruce Springsteen tribute.
Vet Fest is organized by the Vet Fest 141 Foundation, whose mission is to give back to veterans, first responders and active-duty military. Get information and purchase Vet Fest tickets.
Wine tasting and benefit concerts at Venue 1012
Meet your family and friends on September 1 and 2 for Wine Off the Foxat Venue 1012 to help support organizations that provide breast cancer support and services.
Taste from over 20 varieties of wine and listen to live performances by all-female bands. A percentage of each ticket sold will benefit organizations that provide breast cancer support and services Rush Copley/Waterford Place Cancer Resource Center, Edward Foundation and American Cancer Society.

Free movie tonight
Bring a blanket, chairs and your favorite movie munchies to watch Puss in Boots: The Last Wish tonight, August 10, at Venue 1012. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk.
The Movies Under the Stars series is a partnership with The United City of Yorkville.
Fleetwood Mac tunes on August 17
Journey back in time with Fleetwood Mac on August 17 as Chicago band Second Hand News takes the stage at Venue 1012. Celebrate the last weeks of summer while you sing along to Fleetwood Mac’s greatest hits.
Cold beverages and food will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6 p.m. and Second Hand News performs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Petty Cash rescheduled for September 22
It’s back on! After a weather cancellation earlier this summer, Petty Cash will perform at Venue 1012 on September 22. Grab your friends and dance to the music of Tom Petty and Johnny Cash.
