The Board approved President Ryan Kauffman’s nomination of Karen Novy to fill the vacant trustee seat at Wednesday’s special Village Board meeting. After the vote, she was sworn in by Judge John McAdams and participated in the meeting.
Novy has lived in Oswego since 2003 and previously served on the Village’s Planning and Zoning Commission. She was a founding member of Kiwanis and volunteered time in the community’s schools.
Novy will serve until the 2025 Consolidated Election at which time a candidate will be elected to complete the remaining two-year term of the vacant seat.

Despite the recent rain, severe drought conditions continue. To ensure continued water conservation, the Village is rigorously enforcing outdoor watering restrictions. Residents and businesses that use sprinkling devices outside of the allowed dates and timeframe will receive a warning. Fines will be assessed if unauthorized sprinkling continues. Using water during the allotted timeframe prevents inefficient mid-day watering and decreases overnight water usage allowing the Village’s wells a chance to replenish.
Properties with even-numbered street numbers may use Village-distributed water for sprinkling or automatic water systems for plant and yard watering on even-numbered calendar dates between the hours of 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Properties with odd-numbered street numbers may water on odd-numbered calendar dates during the same timeframe. Non-addressed properties, including subdivision entrances, roadway islands and parkways, may water on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, only.
A hand-held watering device, such as a watering wand, may be used at any time.
