2024 OPPD Annual Report
The Oak Park Police Department recently presented its 2024 Annual Report to the Village Board. To read more about the department’s community-based policing philosophy, staffing levels for the year, crime statistics, community engagement and more, go to www.oak-park.us/oppd24report.
Non-emergency reports can be filed online
A non-emergency incident report can now be filed online through the department’s Police to Citizen portal. This can be used for instances that involve theft, lost property or damaged property. Some examples include package delivery theft, graffiti on your property or items stolen from your garage or vehicle. This does not include situations where an injury occurred or a weapon was involved. As always, in an emergency, call 911. To file a non-emergency police report online, go to www.oak-park.us/policereport.

Ask for official identification
If you receive an unexpected visit from someone claiming to be an employee of the Village who wants to enter your home, ask to see their official identification. The official ID card features the employee's photo, name and the Village logo on the front. Use the same procedure if someone claiming to be an employee of a utility company, such as Nicor or ComEd, wants to come in your home - ask to see an official ID. If in doubt, call the Police non-emergency number, 708.386.3800. If you feel threatened, call 911.

Resources for hoarding
A message from our colleagues at the Oak Park Fire Department:
Hoarding poses significant safety risks for many reasons. Narrow passageways create challenges for paramedics attempting to remove a patient from a home. Blocked exits prevent people from escaping a fire. Firefighters responding to a call are at risk due to blocked exits and falling objects. Those living adjacent to homes are at greater risk should a fire occur, due to excessive smoke and fire conditions. Click here for more information. If you are looking for resources to help someone with a hoarding problem, reach out to us at fireprevention@oak-park.us
