Volunteers needed to help with community events
The Village is seeking volunteers to serve on planning committees and assist on the day of events the Village hosts throughout the year to celebrate Oak Park’s diversity. These occasions include this year's 50th A Day in Our Village, Juneteenth, Pride Month, Oak Park’s July 4th parade and Hispanic Heritage Month. Anyone who is up to the challenge of helping bring the community together can sign up to volunteer at www.oak-park.us/CommunityEvents. Village seeking feedback about language access
The Village’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is conducting a language access survey to better understand the language access needs in the community, particularly as it relates to Village Hall and other municipal facilities. The survey is available in both English and Spanish. Other languages may be provided upon request. Offer your input related to language access at www.engageoakpark.com/language-access.

Village Hall closed for Presidents Day
Village Hall, 123 Madison St., will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19 in observance of Presidents Day. The refuse and recycling collection schedule will not be affected by the holiday and will occur as regularly scheduled next week. Should an incident that doesn't quite rise to the level of a 911 call occur when Village Hall is closed, call the Police non-emergency number 708.386.3800 for assistance. Regular physical activity key to heart health
The Oak Park Public Health Department is spotlighting ways to maintain a healthy heart throughout February as part of American Heart Month. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but you can take steps to reduce your risk of heart disease. One way is to maintain regular physical activity. Community members are invited to walk and chat with a public health nurse for free, as well as get a blood pressure check, at the Community Recreation Center at 229 Madison St. from 10 a.m. to noon next Wed., Feb. 21. CDCAC seeks nominations for partnership award
The Village’s Community Development Citizen Advisory Committee (CDCAC) is seeking to honor individuals and non-profits that have gone above and beyond in supporting Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) initiatives in Oak Park. The CDCAC’s partnership award will be presented this spring in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Oak Park’s participation in the federal CDBG program. The nomination deadline is March 1.
