Waukegan, IL - The Lake County Sheriff's Office is hosting a public safety forum entitled Technology and Pornography - Keeping Youth Safe on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the College of Lake County's C-005 Auditorium in Grayslake from 8:00 a.m. to noon.
Guest speakers include Dr. Mary Anne Layden, Director of Education for the Center of Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, Ms. Liz Yore, former special counsel for Harpo Studios and
former general counsel at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children,
and Detective Chris Covelli, Lake County Sheriff’s Office Cyber-crimes task
force.
Speakers will share their expertise in treating offenders and
victims, local and federal laws pertaining to sexting, child pornography, and
the sexual exploitation of children, and crime trends viewed from the Sheriff’s
Office cyber-crimes task force.
Sheriff Mark C. Curran, Jr. stated, “This forum is designed to
help parents and professionals working with kids understand the increasing
risks in cyberspace. Advances in technology combined with naturally curious
