Lake
County recently submitted its ideas to the State task force charged with
streamlining local governments, which included a list of costly mandates that
could save Lake County more than $2 million annually and millions more in
ongoing savings. Now, residents can submit their ideas on ways to consolidate, streamline or eliminate duplicative governmental bodies, school districts and
taxing authorities, and ideas on ways to replace, revise, or repeal unfunded
mandates placed on local governments and school districts. Submit your comments
on
this website. The ideas will be compiled and reported to the Local
Government Consolidation and Unfunded Mandates Task Force, and a summary of
public comments will be included in the task force’s final report to the governor
and General Assembly. Read Lake County’s memo
to the governor.
