Evening Hikes Along Lighted Trails
Enjoy exercise along lighted trails at a 1.3-mile fitness trail at Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville, or a 1.65-mile hilly section of the Millennium Trail adjacent to the Winter Sports Area at Lakewood Forest Preserve in Wauconda.

New Laws for 2015

A New Year brings a variety of new laws to Illinois including a speed limit increase to 70 m.p.h. on tollways and interstates, and new preventions against cyber bullying.  See a complete list of new laws.

Bring your unwanted or broken holiday lights to light recycling container located outside the front entrance of Village Hall and inside the Fox Lake Police Department main entrance. Call Village Hall at 847.587.2151 for more information. 

New Electronic Recycling Drop-Off Locations Opened
Six new locations opened for residential electronic drop-offs on Jan. 2. Disposing of electronics safely helps keep our environment safe and clean, and there is no cost to drop off electronics at these locations.

Household Chemical Waste Drop Off Events
Keep our environment clean by disposing of chemicals safely! Schedule a household chemical waste recycling appointment on Jan. 26 at SWALCO facility in Gurnee.  Acceptable Items

Christmas Tree Recycling
Bring your Christmas Tree to Lake County Forest Preserve locations to be chipped and used for trails and landscaping throughout our communities!  Find out more

Textile Recycling Program
Help reduce landfill space by bringing old or unwanted textiles of all kinds to one of Lake County’s Textile Drop Off Boxes, to be repurposed or recycled!

College Financial Aid Help Sessions

Students and their parents can get help and learn about financial aid by attending free FAFSA Workshops (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) available at various locations throughout Lake County through March.
