Explore new resources from Live Well Lake County and the Health Department's Communicable Disease program
Lake County, Ill. — The Lake County Health Department is excited to introduce the Lake County Health Atlas and Communicable Disease Data Hub. These new resources make local health information readily available. They help residents, community groups, healthcare providers, educators, and leaders learn more about our community's health and use data to make informed decisions.
“These dashboards give everyone the tools and resources to see how different health topics affect our community," said Christopher Hoff, Executive Director at the Lake County Health Department. “We’re excited to make this data more easily accessible and to continue to build a healthier Lake County."
Lake County Health Atlas
The Lake County Health Atlas, created by the Health Department in partnership with Live Well Lake County, includes interactive maps, charts, and dashboards that let users explore health trends across Lake County.
Visitors can compare data over time and view information by county, city, ZIP code, or neighborhood. Topics can also be explored by age, race and ethnicity, and gender, to better understand the health needs of different groups.
"We're excited to expand public access to data that is critical to keeping our community informed," said Christina Hayes, Strategic Planning and Quality Improvement Manager at the Lake County Health Department. "The Health Atlas is a valuable tool for community members, students, advocates, professionals, and organizations because it can give people a better understanding of the health of the community and where improvement is needed."

The Health Atlas was made possible through generous contributions from the Live Well Lake County network. Live Well Lake County is a community-led coalition of over 60 organizations and more than 150 partners working to improve the health and well-being throughout Lake County.
Communicable Disease Data Hub
The Communicable Disease Data Hub is another resource that launched earlier this year. Two dashboards are currently available: the Vector-borne Disease Dashboard and the Respiratory Disease Dashboard, with more coming in the future.
"Making data accessible and understandable empowers our community to take action," said Dr. Sana Ahmed, Medical Advisor and Prevention Medical Director at the Lake County Health Department. "Resources like the Respiratory Disease Dashboard are updated weekly to provide residents with timely trends so they can make informed decisions to protect their family, friends, and community from illness."
The Health Department invites the public to explore the Communicable Disease Data Hub at LakeCountyIL.org/DiseaseData to learn how their community is affected and to support a healthier future for all who live, work, and play in Lake County.
