Green Oaks, IL - The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be closing St. Mary’s Road to through traffic from IL 137 to IL 176 for one day. The closure will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, weather permitting, and is scheduled to reopen by late afternoon. The closure is necessary to replace a large deteriorated cross-road culvert.
Ensuring culverts are in good repair is critical, as they carry water beneath roadways, helping prevent flooding, erosion and pavement damage. Nearly half of LCDOT's 2026 construction program funding is dedicated to preservation projects like this one, ensuring roads, bridges and drainage infrastructure remain safe, reliable and in good condition for years to come.
Local traffic will be allowed from IL 137 south to King Drive and from IL 176 north to Lexington Road. The work site will be closed to all traffic.
