Lake County Clerk Anthony Vega continues to advocate for strong federal support, innovation, and the resources needed to provide safe, secure, and accessible elections for Lake County voters. Recently, the Lake County Clerk’s Office hosted a roundtable discussion with Congressman Brad Schneider and Cook County Clerk Monica Gordon to discuss shared priorities including enhancing intergovernmental coordination, improving access to election services, and the need for sustainable federal election funding.

In addition to these local and regional efforts, Clerk Vega recently joined over 100 fellow election officials in Washington, D.C. for Election Infrastructure Advocacy Day 2026. As part of a bipartisan Illinois delegation, he met with members of Congress and legislative staff to discuss the increasing operational demands facing election authorities, including rising election administration costs, evolving cybersecurity threats, aging infrastructure, and the need for continued modernization of election systems. Clerk Vega emphasized the importance of sustained federal support and investment to help local election authorities continue delivering safe, secure, reliable, and accessible elections for Lake County residents and communities nationwide.

The bipartisan IL delegation included Clerks from Lake, Tazewell, Putnam, Alexander, and Knox counties.

To help protect residents, the Lake County Clerk is introducing Property Alert — a free real property fraud alert system. After creating an alert record, you will receive email notifications anytime a document is recorded against your property or name within Lake County. This free service is designed to provide an added layer of awareness and help detect potentially fraudulent activity that could impact your property ownership.

The Lake County Clerk’s Office is proud to share the success of our April Donation Drive in partnership with A Safe Place, a local organization dedicated to supporting the survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we received thousands of dollars worth of donations.

Community members donated essential household items including paper towels, laundry detergent, soap, tissues, supplies for the dogs and cats at the facility, and many baby essentials. Every contribution will help provide comfort, stability, and support to individuals and families in need throughout Lake County.

Pictured is Eddie, A Safe Place’s service dog, sitting alongside the many donations collected for the organization.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this donation drive such a meaningful success as well as to A Safe Place, for the important work they do for our community.
