Spring Hydrant Flushing to Begin March 30
The Lake County Department of Public Works (LCPW) will begin its semi-annual water hydrant flushing program on March 30, weather permitting. Flushing will occur in phases across our service areas.
Work will take place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., following the published hydrant flushing schedule. The anticipated completion date is May 22.
During and immediately after flushing, you may notice temporary discoloration in your water. This is caused by sediment being stirred up in the pipes and is not harmful. The water should clear within a short time. To avoid potential staining, residents are encouraged to avoid doing laundry while flushing is taking place in their area. If you experience discoloration, run cold water for several minutes to clear your pipes.
Signs will be posted in advance in areas scheduled for flushing. View the hydrant flushing schedule or contact our office at 847-377-7500 for more information.
