Lake County Celebrates 211 Day
The Lake County Board has proclaimed February 11, 2026, as 211 Day, recognizing a vital resource that has connected hundreds of thousands of residents to critical services since its launch.
By dialing 211 or texting a ZIP code to 898-211, Lake County residents can connect with live, highly trained experts who help navigate callers to the resources they need. These services range from addressing food insecurity and housing challenges to finding health care, behavioral health services and much more.
“Help is just one phone call or text away,” said Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart. "Lake County is proud to support 211, a 24/7 resource that helps residents quickly connect to the services they need. Whether it is food assistance, housing help or access to essential health services, 211 is there to guide and support our community."
Since its inception in 2019, 211 has facilitated more than 448,000 connections for Lake County residents seeking essential support. The service is free, confidential and accessible in every ZIP code across the county. 211 can provide interpretation in more than 150 languages.
“211 has become a lifeline for so many in Lake County,” said Quinton Snodgrass, President and CEO of United Way of Lake County. “Behind every call or text is someone looking for stability, for hope and our team is there to listen, to guide, and to connect them with real support. 211 Day is a reminder that help is here, 24/7, and no one in our community has to face hardship alone.”
Operated by United Way of Lake County, 211 represents a partnership dedicated to improving lives and building a stronger community. Lake County plays a key role in raising awareness of 211 and provides financial support to sustain its services.
“Too often, people don’t seek help simply because they don’t know where to start,” said J. Kevin Hunter, Lake County Board representative on the 211 Advisory Council. “211 makes that first step easier. We encourage everyone to tell their friends and family about 211.
