December 17th marks the first day to submit your application for a Vote by Mail ballot for the March 17th, 2026, General Primary Election.
Applying early ensures you’ll have plenty of time to receive, complete, and return your ballot safely and securely. First day to mail vote by mail ballots for the March 17th, 2026 primary is February 5th 2026.
Starting December 17th, 2025, you can apply online at lakevoterpower.info to make your voting experience easy and convenient!
Illinois County Clerk Delegation Visited Washington DC To Talk With Legislators About Election Infrastructure
 Lake County Clerk Anthony Vega joined county clerks from Cook, Knox, and Tazewell Counties along with dozens from across the country in Washington, D.C. for Election Infrastructure Advocacy Day 2025. The bipartisan delegation met with members of Congress to advocate for restoring $400 million in federal funding for election security and infrastructure.
Clerk Vega emphasized the need for stable, consistent funding to ensure secure, reliable elections nationwide, highlighting that protecting democracy requires strong federal partnership and investment.
Lake County Clerk Hosts Regional Tax Extenders
 The Lake County Clerk Tax Department hosted the Regional Tax Extenders Meeting at Independence Grove on Friday, October 24th. Each year, tax extenders from Cook and the collar counties (Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Will, and Winnebago) gather to share and discuss information related to topics such as legislation, best practices, and technology as it applies to tax extension and redemption.
Years of Service Recognition Breakfast
 On Friday, October 17th, Lake County held its annual Years of Service Recognition Breakfast where we celebrated the dedication and commitment of county employees.
The Office of the Lake County Clerk was proud to recognize the years of service of five employees who continue to make a lasting impact through their hard work and service to our community. We are grateful for everything you do!

Holiday Closures
 Thanksgiving Holiday Closure Notice
As we give thanks this season, we are grateful for our community and for everyone we have the privilege to serve.
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, our office will be closed on Thursday, November 27th, and Friday, November 28th. We will reopen on Monday, December 1st, at 8:30am.
