Lake County ARPA Projects in Action
1.9 million meals. 6.5 million pieces of PPE. $22.2 million invested in water and sanitary sewer upgrades. These numbers are just a few examples of how Lake County has allocated $135.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
It’s hard to believe the COVID-19 pandemic began more than five years ago. While the immediate crisis may be behind us, the work continues. When Lake County received ARPA funds from the federal government in 2021, the Lake County Board formed a Special Committee to determine how the funds should be distributed throughout the county. From the start, the Board prioritized immediate needs, supporting food assistance programs, emergency housing and other direct services to help stabilize those most impacted by the pandemic.

2025 Update
The Special Committee utilized public input and a range of community-driven and organization-based strategic plans to guide decisions on projects that will benefit Lake County communities long after the pandemic. These projects are now coming to life. The projects include investments to enhance public safety, expand economic opportunities, improve infrastructure, promote sustainability and build healthy, inclusive and resilient communities.
Lake County recently submitted its annual ARPA report to the U.S. Treasury and published a summary booklet highlighting completed and ongoing projects. See the progress to learn how these investments are making a lasting impact in our communities.
