Partnering with A Safe Place: Community Donation Drive
Our heartfelt thanks go out to every Lake County resident who contributed to the success of our Spring Donation Drive in support of A Safe Place. From April 15 to April 30, 2025, donation boxes were stationed at multiple municipal locations, and the response from our community was nothing short of extraordinary.
We especially want to thank the incredible municipal partners who not only participated - but filled their boxes many times over. A special shoutout goes to the Lake Forest Police Station for filling their box within the very first week of the program! Your compassion and quick action set the tone for a successful effort across the county.
This drive would not have been possible without the dedicated team at A Safe Place. Thank you for your continued partnership and the life-changing work you do every day to provide safety, shelter, and support to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking in Lake County.

Explore Lake County’s Greenbook Property Program – 2025 Cycle Now Open!
The Lake County Clerk’s Office is pleased to announce that the 2025 Greenbook Property Program is officially open from April 18 through October 3, 2025. This initiative offers members of the public a unique opportunity to acquire Lake County-owned properties—most of which are vacant lots—through a sealed bid-based auction process.
What is the Greenbook? The Greenbook is a list of tax-foreclosed properties held in trust by the County of Lake on behalf of local taxing bodies. These parcels, which have gone through a legal tax sale process, are now available for purchase “as-is.” This means buyers should thoroughly research parcels before submitting a bid, as the County does not guarantee title quality, development potential, or property condition.
Interested in viewing the properties? Access the full list of available parcels, minimum bid amounts, and bid windows by visiting the Greenbook Information Page. You’ll also find an interactive Greenbook Map, a downloadable Excel list with updates, and a printable PDF version of available parcels.
Important Things to Know Before Bidding:
-
Bids must be submitted in sealed envelopes with the 10-digit Property Identification Number (PIN) clearly written on the outside.
-
If a bid is below the recommended minimum, supporting documentation is encouraged.
-
Each accepted bid triggers a 30-day window for competing bids to be submitted.
-
All sales are final, and winning parcels are transferred via Quit Claim Deed.
-
No survey will be provided, and transfer tax fees may apply for some municipalities.
Where to Submit Your Bid: Mail or deliver your sealed bid to: Lake County Clerk – Tax Department Greenbook Bid – [PIN#] 18 North County Street, 6th Floor Waukegan, IL 60085-4364
Looking for a Specific Property? Use Lake County’s GIS Map Portal to search parcels by PIN and view their location: https://maps.lakecountyil.gov/mapsonline/
Support and Additional Information: If you have questions about a property’s zoning or development potential, contact the local township or the Lake County Permit Facility. For bidding questions, call 847-377-2404 or email taxredemption@lakecountyil.gov.
Note: The Greenbook program is separate from judicial foreclosure sales, which are handled by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. For more information about foreclosed homes, call 847-377-4401.
Take advantage of this opportunity to invest in Lake County’s future—one parcel at a time. Visit the Greenbook page to get started today.
