Summer Youth Employment Program

This popular program, funded by the Lake County Board, will provide meaningful work experiences in various worksites for approximately 175 young people this summer. Topics will include:

• Breaking down a pay stub: What is deducted and why
• How to make the most of benefits (healthcare, retirement, etc.)
• Managing overtime, bonuses, and irregular income
• Avoiding loss of state benefits (SSDI, Medicaid, SNAP, etc.)

Revive Lake County Express Pilot

Revive Lake County is a 3-week program providing returning citizens with the skills needed to ensure success in the labor force. Please join us at 1 N. Genesee St, Waukegan, IL 60085, beginning March 31, 2025, through April 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM!

Career Transition for Military Veterans

The Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) pilot program is an opportunity for veterans, veterans currently serving in the National Guard and Reserve, and their spouses to take control of their career through workshops to help meet their employment goals. OBTT provides employment preparation, education and opportunities that allow attendees to maximize their career potential.

Success Story

The Lake County Workforce Development Board kicked off Illinois’ first-ever Youth Development Practitioner Apprenticeship (YDPA) training initiative in January 2024. In January 2025, apprentices from seven youth-servicing organizations successfully completed the program and received a nationally recognized certificate as a Youth Development Practitioner from the Department of Labor.
