Riverwoods Road and Duffy Lane "3R" Project Public Meeting

Join the Lake County Division of Transportation on Wednesday, February 3 at a public meeting to see the initial range of alternatives for the Riverwoods Road and Duffy Lane "3R" Project. The meeting will be held at the Marriott Lincolnshire, 10 Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire.

LCDOT plans to improve Riverwoods Road and Duffy Lane in southeastern Lake County. It's called a "3R" project because the goal is to resurface, restore and rehabilitate these roads in the coming years.

Attendees will be able to see the initial alternatives for this project. The meeting will be conducted in an open house format, so you may attend any time between 5 and 7 p.m. Exhibits will be on display and project team members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.

Protect Your Family from Radon. Testing Kits Are Available

Radon can build up in any home or building, whether new or old, with a basement or not. It cannot be seen, tasted or smelled. The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center recommends that residents test the radon levels in their homes and apartments during the winter, when radon levels are highest.

The Health Department offers short-term testing kits for $10, available at 500 W. Winchester Rd., Libertyville or for $13 by mail. The cost includes return postage, laboratory analysis and interpretation by Health Department staff. Test kits are also available from area hardware and building supply stores.

Museum to Expand with Alex Ross Exhibition

Alex Ross exhibition

The Dunn Museum, operated by the Lake County Forest Preserves, is expanding to include a new gallery for larger special exhibitions. The inaugural exhibit will feature the work of renowned comic book artist Alex Ross, whose art has captivated audiences worldwide.

The idea for the expansion ties back to Alex Ross’ first exhibition at the Libertyville museum, “Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross,” held about five years ago. Often called the “Norman Rockwell of comics,” Ross—who lives locally—was thrilled by the show’s success, which introduced a whole new audience to the Dunn Museum. The exhibition is expected to open this summer. Read Now »

Learn About Discount Solar Installation through Solar Switch

Solar Switch is a solar group buying program that allows homeowners and small businesses to secure a discounted price on rooftop solar installation for their homes or small businesses. Optional add-ons such as battery storage and EV chargers are also available through the program.

Through the most recent group buying period, Lake County customers saved an average 16% on solar panel installation. A total of 157 residents have utilized Solar Switch since Lake County joined the program in 2023. Federal and State incentives can further reduce system costs. It is free to register, and there is no obligation to purchase a system.  Learn more about Solar Switch

The County has taken important steps towards operating with solar power. Our Central Permit Facility in Libertyville now operates entirely on solar power. Since connecting to the system, the solar panels have generated energy equivalent to saving over 3,400 gallons of gasoline, 2,600 pounds of methane and 22,000 gallons of water.

Election Day Vote Center Model Adopted for Enhanced Voter Convenience

The Lake County Clerk’s Office is transitioning to a vote center model for Election Day voting, offering increased accessibility, convenience and efficiency for all voters in Lake County.

Under this model, starting with the February 25 Consolidated Primary Election cycle, Lake County voters will still be assigned a Preferred Election Day Voting Site but are no longer restricted to voting at that location. Instead, they can cast their ballot at any of the fully equipped vote centers located throughout Lake County, regardless of their residential address.

While the February 25 Consolidated Primary Election only applies to voters in the cities of North Chicago and Waukegan, this vote center model will be implemented for all subsequent elections as well, including the April 1 Consolidated Election, which applies to all voters in Lake County.
