Training and Perseverance Lead to a Career Change

Jasmin, a Psychology graduate, faced financial hardship after losing her job due to pandemic-related downsizing. Struggling with multiple part-time jobs, she sought a career change and enrolled in a Medical Assistant program at State Career College in April 2023. With the help of a WIOA training grant from Lake County Workforce Development, Jasmin overcame financial challenges, covering tuition and transportation costs. After completing the program in June 2024, she secured a Medical Assistant position in the Cardiology department at Aurora Health Care. Now financially stable and passionate about helping others, Jasmin advises career changers to follow their dreams, emphasizing that doing what you love makes work fulfilling.
