Professional Advocacy for Veterans
The Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) of Lake County provides free services to all honorably discharged Veterans and their spouses/children. With Veterans Day approaching on November 11, now is the perfect time to learn about the support they offer.
If you're a Veteran living in Lake County, the VAC would be honored to meet with you. We encourage everyone to share this information with Veteran friends and family. In 2023, the VAC helped secure $18.6 million in new VA benefits for Lake County Veterans.

Services Provided
Claims Veterans who are filing disability claims for the first time can utilize the personalized services of the VAC's Veteran Service Officers to interview, research, compile and submit a claim for compensation.
Administrative Appeals The VAC stands ready to take action on wrongfully adjudicated claims. A thorough review of the decision is completed, followed by an administrative appeal.
Appellate Level Review Some appeals require the work of a specialist. The VAC Superintendent, a licensed attorney, will work with and represent you in the higher courts, such as the CAVC, CAFC or even SCOTUS.
Assistance No one is immune to hard times. Layoffs, personal issues, emergencies and even pandemics can disrupt life. The VAC is here to help, whether it's providing financial assistance, emergency shelter or mobilizing their network of allies and partners, ensuring that no Veteran is left behind.
