Zion, IL - The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will be closing Lewis Avenue between 21st Street and 33rd Street to through traffic on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 8 a.m. to remove an aging pedestrian bridge. The road will reopen by the evening on the same day (Nov. 12).
Pedestrians can still cross Lewis Avenue using the traffic signal at Lewis Avenue and 21st Street. LCDOT is starting a Phase I engineering study of the Lewis Avenue corridor that will study pedestrian and bicycle needs in the area.
DETOUR ROUTE: 33rd Street to IL 131 (Green Bay Road) to Kenosha Road to 21st Street. The road will be closed to all through traffic at Salem Boulevard.
Local traffic will have access north of 33rd Street to Woodland Drive and south of 21st Street to 24th Street.
