Voter Registration

As we approach the November 5th General Election, the Lake County Clerk’s Office would like to remind voters of important deadlines and options for voter registration.

Voter registration period with Deputy Registrars ended on October 8th. However, if you still need to register to vote, there are a few ways to do so before Election Day:

  • Online Registration: Available through October 20th via the Illinois State Board of Elections website at ova.elections.il.gov. A valid Illinois Driver's License or Illinois State ID is required.

  • At the DMV: Through October 20th, you can also register to vote while completing services at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

  • Grace Period Registration: This allows registration beyond the October 8th deadline, but you must vote at the same time you register at any Early Voting location or on Election Day. Two forms of identification are required. (both must show your name, and one must include your current physical address).

Grace Period Registration is available at the Lake County Clerk’s Office lobby from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, until October 18th. After that, it will be available at all Early Voting locations and on Election Day at your designated polling place.
