Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Join the Lake County Clerk's Office in celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month! As we honor the rich cultures and contributions of our AAPI community, let us also recognize the importance of equitable voting rights for all. Did you know that up until 1952, federal policy barred immigrants of Asian descent from becoming U.S. citizens and having access to the ballot box? And it wasn't until the Voting Rights Act was signed into law in 1965 that racial discrimination in voting was finally prohibited. Our office is committed to celebrating the beautiful diversity of our community every chance we get and upholding the standard that ensures every voice is heard and every vote counts! Happy AAPI Heritage Month, Lake County!
