SMC Seeks Assistance on Stormwater Plan

Submit a Statement of Interest

The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) is soliciting an experienced consultant to assist with the update of the Lake County Comprehensive Stormwater Management Plan. Interested parties are encouraged to submit a Statement of Interest (SOI) via the Lake County Purchasing Portal. The SOI submission deadline is May 31, by noon CST.

Once approved, the updated plan will provide the framework for the County’s coordinated approach to managing stormwater runoff and mitigating the effects of urbanization on stormwater infrastructure. It will also serve as SMC’s Strategic Plan, defining SMC’s mission, programs, and services and providing guidance for SMC as it works to implement and achieve the County’s stormwater management goals. SMC intends to award a single contract through this process. Qualified candidates will be recommended for inclusion in the next step of the selection process.

Questions? Email stormwater@lakecountyil.gov by noon on April 26.

Happy retirement Arnold. We will miss you!

Happy Retirement Arnold

After years of dedicated service, Arnold Donato is retiring on April 12. Arnold currently works as the Capital Improvement Project Manager at SMC. However, he started his career at Lake County in March of 1996 as an accountant and was quickly promoted to Finance Specialist. During his time with Lake County, Arnold assisted with the issuance of Lake County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and helped to maintain the County’s financial software. He filled a pivotal role in coordinating with all departments to compile and assist in the issuance of Lake County’s financial statements. During his time with SMC, Arnold oversaw project and grant management of the first $30 million of DCEO funding received for Regional Stormwater Projects.

Working over 28 years at Lake County, Arnold said he enjoyed developing relationships in almost every department most so he could perform his duties in Finance and Administrative Services and Stormwater Management Commission. In his free time, Arnold enjoys walking in the Lake County Forest Preserves and listening to all music genres. His one wish for the future of the County and SMC is to obtain adequate funding and support to alleviate flooding in underserved Lake County communities.

Arnold will surely be missed, but we are so excited for him to enjoy retirement. Thank you for your service to Lake County, Arnold!
