5

With the General Primary Election approaching next Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Lake County Clerk's Office is committed to ensuring that every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate in this important democratic process. Whether you're a seasoned voter or a first-time participant, here are some essential steps to prepare for Election Day:

  1. Check Your Voter Registration: Make sure your voter registration is up to date! You can verify your registration status at Lake Voter Power
  2. Know Your Polling Place: Find out where your polling place is located. This information can be easily accessed online through Lake Voter Power as well. Familiarize yourself with the location to avoid any confusion on Election Day.
  3. Review a Sample Ballot: Take the time to review a sample ballot for the General Primary Election. Familiarizing yourself with the candidates and issues beforehand can help streamline the voting process and ensure you make informed decisions at the polls.
  4. Plan Your Schedule: Plan ahead to ensure you have enough time to vote on Election Day. Consider factors such as work or school commitments, transportation, and any other obligations you may have. Avoid leaving voting to the last minute to prevent long lines or unforeseen delays. Early voting is still available at select locations through Monday, March 18th. Click here for a full list of early voting hours and locations.
  5. Encourage Others to Vote: Spread the word about the General Primary Election and encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to participate. Voting is not only a right but also a civic responsibility that strengthens our democracy.

At the Lake County Clerk's Office, we are dedicated to facilitating a fair, accessible, and transparent electoral process. If you have any questions or need assistance with voting-related matters, please don't hesitate to reach out to our knowledgeable staff.

Together, let's make our voices heard in the upcoming General Primary Election on March 19, 2024. Your vote is your voice—exercise it!

Pursuant to a recent change in state law, Lake County has added a second vote center to service any registered Lake County voter on Election Day. County St. Waukeqan, will be available to service voters who desires to vote there in leu of their assigned Election Day voting site. Updated Voter Cards

2

In February, the Lake County Clerk's Office mailed new voter cards to those whose Election Day polling sites changed for the 2024 General Primary Election. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is crucial for a smooth voting experience, so if you receive a new voter card, please review it carefully and take note of any changes. Every voter is responsible for updating their registration or letting our office know that they no longer reside at their previous address.

If your household received a voter card for someone who is deceased or no longer resides at your address, please write "RETURN TO SENDER" on the card and place it in your mailbox so that it can be returned by the United States Postal Service. Once received, our office will have to send an address confirmation letter to the individual who was previously registered at your address. If you receive this letter, please follow the same process. This process starts the federally mandated process of updating our voter rolls. We use multiple methods to keep our voter records up-to-date, but we are limited by state and federal laws.

Your participation in the democratic process is invaluable, and we appreciate your attention to these updates as we strive to make voting accessible and convenient for all Lake County voters. Remember, you can always access your personalized and up-to-date voter information at www.LakeVoterPower.info!
