Lake County Board Appoints Austin McFarlane as Public Works Director
The Lake County Board is pleased to announce that it has appointed Austin McFarlane as the Director for the Lake County Public Works Department.

"Austin has led critically important initiatives that modernize our water and sewer infrastructure, improve water quality, and increase system resiliency," said Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart. "We look forward to continue working with Austin on projects involving the county's most valuable asset, our water."

The Department conducts testing, performs inspections, and regulates permits that pertain to water and sanitary sewer issues. They conduct water and sewer inspection services to ensure that residential, commercial, and industrial customers comply with public health and environmental safety standards.
The Department also performs government services to protect consumers and the environment, including maintaining water and sewer assets for over 20 municipalities as a shared service and the maintenance of the North Libertyville Estates Levee.
"Austin's knowledge and skills have been an integral part of our organization for more than 30 years," said Gary Gibson, Lake County Administrator. "We are confident in his ability to lead the extraordinary teams we have at Public Works in the years to come."
