Precautionary Boil Order LIFTED for Forest Lake and Hawthorn Woods/Glennshire Subdivisions

The precautionary boil order issued on July 2, 2023 for the Forest Lake and Hawthorn Woods/Glennshire subdivisions has been lifted. LCPW Customers in these subdivisions may return to normal use of their water service.

The precautionary boil order was issued for this area because Aqua Illinois, our source water supplier, experienced difficulty with their water delivery. This impacted their on-site storage and their ability to maintain system pressure and meet demand throughout the service communities. Aqua Illinois believes that the problem was identified and corrected. Lake County Public Works (LCPW) has confirmed that water system pressure in the Forest Lake and Hawthorn Woods/Glennshire subdivisions is back to normal operating levels.

As a precaution, bacteriological samples were collected to verify the quality of the drinking water supply. Water samples tested by a certified laboratory have confirmed that the water is free of coliform bacteria.

Persistent water outages and dips in water pressure required a boil order to be in effect for the past nine days. LCPW conducts a thorough post-event review in any situation that involves water service and quality that has a direct impact on the health and safety of its customers. In the coming weeks, LCPW plans to meet with Aqua Illinois and have discussions with the Villages of Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer, and the Lake County Public Works and Transportation Committee on possible next steps and long term solutions.

LCPW thanks everyone for their patience throughout this whole event. Those with any questions or concerns may send an email to publicworks@lakecountyil.gov.
