Recording Fees Updated Due To Recent Legislation
Earlier this year, the Illinois General Assembly enacted Public Act 102-1135 which increased the document recording fees charged for the recording of any real estate-related document.
The effective date of the fee schedule outlined below is July 1, 2023.
- A "standard document" will cost $70.00
- A "standard document" submitted by a Federal, State or local government agency that is exempt from the Rental Housing Surcharge Program fee will cost $50.00
- A "non-standard document" will cost $82.00
- A "non-standard document" submitted by a Federal, State or local government agency that is exempt from the Rental Housing Surcharge Program fee will cost $62.00
- Federal and State liens (or releases of lien) and UCC Termination Statement filings will cost $43.00
- UCC-1 (original filing of Financing Statement) and UCC-3 (Amendments, Assignments of Security Interest, Continuations, and Partial Releases of Collateral) filings will cost $58.00
NOTE: The only additional fees charged at the time of recording will be for any State and County Real Estate Transfer Taxes that are due to be collected.

Please be aware that the Lake County Clerk's Office will be close on Monday, June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. We will resume our regular business hours on Tuesday, June 20th.

Earlier this month Clerk Vega had the privilege of presenting at the League of Women Voters Deerfield/ Lincolnshire Area Lunch & Learn event. The League of Women Voters is an advocacy, women-led, network and membership organization that believes the freedom to vote is a nonpartisan issue.
