Lewis Avenue Corridor Modernization Project Update
The Lake County Division of Transportation thanks everyone that attended our recent public information meeting for the Lewis Avenue Corridor Modernization Project.
Residents, business owners, motorists and stakeholders stopped by to learn more about the project while providing great feedback. The area being studied is a 2.9-mile corridor along Lewis Avenue from IL 137 to Belvidere Road in the cities of North Chicago and Waukegan.

Project Timeline
This project will span multiple years of planning, coordination, and design before construction begins. The next public information meeting, prior to the completion of the Phase I engineering study, is anticipated to be held in early 2024. The preferred design alternative will be presented at that time. Construction is scheduled to begin late in 2026 or early in 2027, dependent upon project readiness and funding availability.
