The Business Services team, led by Workforce Development, is an integrated team of Account Executives seeking to connect employers and the workforce. Workforce Development helps local businesses develop and implement training programs for current and potential employees. Upskill & Rebuild Lake County
Are you a small business impacted by the pandemic or experienced workforce loss due to the pandemic? Lake County small business can subsidize employees' wages through paid work experiences! You may qualify to have Business Services sponsor a qualified individual for a paid work experience for up to 6 months or 1,000 hours. Apply online at www.lakecountycareers.com/ARPA.
We know how critical it is to your business to be able to recruit and retain quality employees. We also know that recruitment in the current economy has been difficult. To assist you better in your recruitment efforts we are offering a training session on how you can expand your employee pool through inclusive recruitment strategies. This training will be offered two times and it will be virtual. There is no cost to attend or to offer it to others in your company. We believe that this training can give you some tools to assist in quality employee recruitment. The training session will include several Chicago area employers who have implemented some of the inclusive recruitment and hiring techniques. They will be able to provide answers to specific questions and discuss their outcomes during the session. Download the Flyer.

On 11.14.2022 Account Executive, Omar Ramirez from the Lake County Workforce Development Business Service Team attended a community-based event hosted by The Executive Director of Midwest Veterans Closet Mary Carmody, and the Chicago Bears. The event had other partners such as Starbucks, Octagon salon for free haircuts, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), US Navy Recruits, and Recruit Division Commander (RDC) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command. This event was a part of the NFL’s Salute to Service for Veterans Day. At this event, 100 Veterans and Military Personal were able to take advantage of our services at the event. Omar Ramirez is a veteran. Thank You, Omar, and all our Veterans for Your Service!

SBDC Pilot a State-wide Training and Workforce Development Program for Employers
The Small Business Development Center is rolling out a Pilot program to provide businesses with a solution for attracting and retaining talented people. This Pilot is focused on supporting businesses by utilizing TAD (Training, Assessment & Development) for access to a strong learning and employee development. TAD is designed to address big company learning and workforce development for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Quality training is curated, from a network of local, reputable organizations and professionals around the world that includes live in-person & virtual, on-demand, coaching, and advising.
Businesses in the Pilot five SBDCs territory area will get a 365-day TAD trial at no cost. After the trial, access to the platform is on a sliding scale depending on the number of employees. Download the Flyer to learn more.

Ashannti Ross recognized as Workforce Development Hero!
As part of Workforce Development Month, Ashannti Ross has been recognized as a Workforce Development Hero by the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) for her contributions and dedication to serving others within the Workforce Development industry.
As part of Ashannti’s role as Lead Project Planner, she has encompassed a "Coaching Champion" mindset and client communication skills and relations that has allowed Lake County Workforce Development to establish Work, Earn, and Learn programs, Career Crossroad initiatives, Re-entry programs, Community Partnerships, and assist with System Design implementation.
Ashannti’s exceptional leadership traits of have allowed Workforce Development to better serve Lake County’s priority groups, enhance community outreach, promote internal teamwork, and establish social media platforms to better engage local Job Seeker and Business clients.
At their September meeting, the Lake County Board recognized Lake County Workforce Development, along with Ashannti Ross, for receiving the Workforce Hero recognition. Kim Wimer, Lake County Workforce Development Board Chairwoman, accepted the acknowledgment on the Board’s behalf.
