LCDOT Announces New Assistant County Engineers to Lead Capital Program and Operations
The Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is excited to announce that it has promoted Kevin Carrier, P.E and Jon Nelson, P.E. to serve as Assistant County Engineers. Together, Kevin and Jon will help lead LCDOT's mission to provide a safe, efficient and innovative transportation system.
Kevin will serve as the Assistant County Engineer for LCDOT's Capital Program. This means he will be heavily involved in the planning, design and construction of LCDOT's transportation projects. Most recently, Kevin served as the Director of Planning and Programming for LCDOT. He brings significant experience coordinating preservation, modernization, and expansion projects as seen in Lake County's 5-Year Transportation Improvement Program, and working with federal, state and local partners and communities.

Jon assumes the role of Assistant County Engineer for LCDOT's Operations after most recently serving as LCDOT's Engineer of Traffic. Jon's expanded role means he will be primarily working with LCDOT's Traffic, Maintenance and Information Services Divisions. Jon brings vast leadership experience and knowledge of transportation operations at the local and national level. He has been awarded APWA’s National Engineering and Technology Manager of the Year and was granted the Institute of Traffic Engineers past president’s award for his regional contributions to the traffic engineering community.

About the Lake County Division of Transportation LCDOT is responsible for the maintenance and operation of a 300-mile network of highways, 74 bridges and tunnels, and 64+ miles of bikeways. LCDOT is also responsible for 24/7 snow and ice operations and maintains the countywide fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. LCDOT operates Lake County PASSAGE, an Intelligent Transportation System of over 660 interconnected traffic signals connected into and managed at our Traffic Management Center. LCDOT’s Transportation Improvement Program will invest almost $700 million in public infrastructure improvements over the next six years.
