PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 3, 2022 Contact: Kevin K. Cullather 847-377-2312
WAUKEGAN, Illinois –
In preparation for the Tuesday, November 8 General Election, Lake County Clerk, Robin M. O’Connor, wants to remind members of the press that they are welcome to report on election-day activities in Lake County.
From 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 8, there will be 106 voting sites open to serve Lake County voters. Each site will be staffed by Lake County residents, who serve as Election Judges. They are there to ensure that the election is conducted as directed by Illinois statute and in a fair and orderly manner.
County Clerk O’Connor reminds journalists from newspapers, television and radio stations, blogs and other outlets that they may observe voting in a polling place. However, no interviews can be conducted in the polling place, nor can judges or voters be photographed or filmed without their written consent (including through the use of a cell phone camera).
Electioneering, or any type of campaigning, is prohibited in the Campaign-Free Zone during voting hours.
Finally, Clerk O’Connor requests that members of the press identify themselves as such and provide press credentials either from their employer, media organization, or from the Lake County Clerk’s Office. For those needing press credentials, please contact Kevin Cullather by noon on Monday, November 7.
