Emergency Closure:
Monaville Road from Fairfield Road to Cedar Lake Road
On Wednesday, April 13, a culvert under Monaville Road was found to be failing. For everyone's safety, the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) has closed Monaville Road to through traffic from Fairfield Road to Cedar Lake Road. A signed detour will be in place until the repair is complete.
Signs of a potential culvert failure were noticed this week during routine road inspection by LCDOT maintenance personnel. This culvert is aging, and a project had been scheduled to replace the culvert later in 2022.
The road will be closed until the repair is complete. At this time, it is hard to estimate the length of time needed for the emergency closure, but LCDOT will work as quickly as possible to complete the necessary repairs and to get this section of the road re-opened.
DETOUR ROUTE: Cedar Lake Road to Rollins Road to Fairfield Road. Local traffic will have access from Fairfield Road east of the culvert. The road near the culvert will be closed to all traffic.
