Lake County Launches Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) Program
A new innovative program that encourages commercial property owners to make energy efficient improvements is now available in Lake County.
The Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program, often referred to as C-PACE, provides long-term financing to private building owners for energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, electrical vehicle charging and resiliency projects to be installed in commercial buildings.
“We are excited to launch our C-PACE Program that can help businesses located in Lake County invest in clean energy, water conservation and other sustainable upgrades to their buildings,” said Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart. "The County Board has made promoting a sustainable environment where we live and work as one of our top strategic goals. I'm proud to say that we have worked diligently on programs such as C-PACE, to move that needle forward."
C-PACE allows property owners to obtain 100 percent financing from private capital providers for eligible improvements such as HVAC, lighting and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and other improvements in both existing buildings and new construction projects. The financing is currently available in 37 states, including the District of Columbia, and can stimulate local economies by funding the upfront capital for PACE projects that may lower operating costs, generate clean energy, instill resiliency and promote water use conservation in commercial properties.
“The new C-PACE Program will be a valuable resource to aid our commercial business owners in making energy efficiency changes, benefiting our business community and ultimately the environment for everyone for years to come,” said Terry Wilke, Lake County Energy and Environment Committee Chair. “I commend the staff and the Energy and Environment Committee for their incredible work and dedication towards making Lake County a leader in sustainability.”
Lake County selected the Illinois Energy Conservation Authority, NFP (IECA), an Illinois 501c3 nonprofit organization, to be the County’s program administrator of the C-PACE program. Businesses interested in C-PACE program can learn more by:
