Treasurer donates stipend to fund hate crime books

HateCrimeBooks

Treasurer Kim generously donated her stipend from the State of Illinois to help fund the printing and distributing of hate crime books for  Asian-American citizens of Cook and Lake counties. The Buffalo Grove Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff's office are offering residents three new books entitled “How to Report a Hate Crime” that have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and and several other languages. The books define hate crimes, explain the importance of reporting them, and recommend ways to avoid them.

"These books are a valuable resource," Buffalo Grove Police Chief Steven Casstevens said. "Access to this information should be inclusive, and we strive to provide excellent outreach to our diverse community."
