Going Mobile using Lake County Clerk's Office New BizBox Trailer
Waukegan, Illinois – Our new Mobile Satellite was introduced at Grant Township Fall Festival on 10/3/2021. Residents had the opportunity to register to vote, verify registration status, sign-up to serve as Judge of Election, receive information about other Lake County Clerk's Office Services, as well as families participated in a mock election to be learn about the safety, security and elections operation.
This new vehicle will complement County Clerk processes. We are committed to expanding our operations and allow the greatest number of services to go mobile while still adhering to State Laws and County Ordinances. We look forward to taking our Mobile Services to school campuses, senior centers, festivals and other county locations. The vehicle’s modern design allows us to move easily across the four corners of our county.
The Mobile Satellite was purchased through private grant funding and not taxpayer dollars. Clerk O’Connor heard about this grant from The Center of Tech and Civic Life through county clerks. O’Connor researched the ”BizBox” model and visited election administrators who owned these mobile offices.
O’Connor decided it would be an excellent extension of her office not only to provide essential County Clerk services, but provide education and outreach assistance to the people across Lake County. Our Mobile Satellite was received on May 7, 2021. Currently, our Mobile Satellite offers Voter Registration, Election Judge Recruitment, and scaled offerings of our offices. It also offers information on our New Lake County Clerk's Institute, which began in June 2021 to promote transparency and education on election operations. In the coming months, it is O’Connor’s desire to mobilize additional services.
