Today, the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) reopened Stearns School Road between Hutchins Road and Hunt Club Road to all traffic. The road had been closed for the emergency replacement of a failed culvert over Mill Creek.
With the emergency culvert installation complete, LCDOT is now in stage 2 of a larger project to build a new single-span bridge at this location. Design and permitting for the bridge are underway. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022 and should occur after the Illinois Tollway’s project on Stearns School Road over I-94 is complete.
We thank everyone for their patience over the past two months. Stearns School Road over Mill Creek is now open!
