Art Impact Project Exhibit on Display at Lake County Government
Lake County Government, in partnership with Art Impact Project, is pleased to announce an Art in Public Places exhibit entitled "Making Impact: How Art Enhances Emotional Wellness".
On display through the end of June, this exhibit features artwork created by adolescents and adults, who have benefited from Art Impact Project’s supportive group programming. Art Impact Project's Beth McKenna and Vickie Marasco curated the show, with help from David Motley.
"Through Art Impact Project's partnerships with local schools, mental and behavioral health facilities, recovery sites, shelters, and an inmate program with Lake County Jail, we're able to serve our residents who are in need of healthier coping skills, emotional awareness, and expression," said Art Impact Project founder and Executive Director Vickie Marasco. "Combining art making with safe, nonjudgmental emotional support facilitates creative expression and gives people powerful coping skills.”
"Creating art can help heal us, and we're so happy to be able to share these pieces to inspire others who may be struggling with emotional wellness issues," said Beth McKenna, Art Impact Project’s Manager of Programming. "Art Impact Project is proud to support Mental Health Awareness Month this May, and we thank our partners who are dedicated to improving the lives of so many in our community, every day."
The Art Impact Project exhibit will be on display in the main lobby of the Lake County administration building located at 18 N. County Street, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public with free 2-hour parking available in the county's main parking garage. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing guidelines are currently required for all who enter Lake County government buildings.
Lake County's Art in Public Places program was created in 2021 in partnership with local artists, arts organizations and galleries. Throughout the year, free exhibits will be on display at the county's main administration building in downtown Waukegan.
