UPDATE: Adult-Use Cannabis Businesses in Unincorporated Lake County
On April 19 and 21, the Lake County Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) held public hearings on proposed zoning amendments that would permit adult-use cannabis businesses in unincorporated Lake County subject to certain restrictions. Upon conclusion of the public hearing, the ZBA recommended by a vote of 7-0 that the proposed amendments (with modifications) be approved.
Lake County staff will present details on the proposed amendments with the ZBA's recommendations at the Lake County Public Works, Planning and Transportation (PWPT) Committee meeting which starts at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28. All interested residents are invited to the PWPT Committee meeting and can register to attend through Zoom. This item will just be discussed at the meeting on April 28, and no final action will be taken.
Individuals attending remotely/virtually may provide public comment during the meeting. Individuals not in attendance may provide written public comment that must be received by 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 27 by email to publiccomment@lakecountyil.gov or delivered to the County Board Office, 18 N. County Street, 10th Floor, Waukegan, IL.
Residents are also encouraged to visit Lake County's new adult-use cannabis web page to learn more about the issue, including proposed zoning amendments and maps. The page also provides a way for the public to submit input, questions and concerns directly to the County's project team.
