Extra Points for the Chicago Bears!

WAUKEGAN, Illinois – At our recent visit to Halas Hall during training camp check-in, many of the Chicago Bear players made it to the end zone by registering to vote. Don’t wait until the fourth down. Check now to make sure your voter registration record is up to date.

Before you can receive a ballot and vote in the November 3, 2020 General Election, you must be registered with your current name and Lake County physical street address. Registered voters can verify their record is up to date by logging onto the Lake County Clerk’s website, LakeVoterPower.info, or calling our Voter Registration Services Department at 847-377-VOTE.
If you need to update your existing record or register for the first time, voter registration is open now and is conveniently available online, in-person, or by mail.

Open until October 6, 2020

  • In-person voter registration 
    Available with a deputy registrar at most municipal, township, or library facilities. Please check with the office you wish to visit for any modified services or hours because of COVID-19.

    The Lake County Clerk's office, 18 N. County Street, Room 101, Waukegan, Illinois 60085, offers voter registration to walk-in customers on weekdays from 9 AM to Noon. Weekday appointments are available until 5 PM. Face covering is required to enter the building.

    When registering with a deputy registrar, you must be able to provide two pieces of valid identification. Both pieces must show your current name, and one must show your current Lake County physical street address.

  • Mail-in voter registration form
    Available by visiting the Lake County Clerk’s website, LakeCountyClerk.info, and downloading an application. Your completed form must be printed and delivered to the Lake County Clerk’s office by 5 PM on October 6 or mailed with a postmark by the same date.

    To verify your identity, you will need to provide your Illinois Driver’s License, State Identification number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number as part of the application process.

  • In-person voter registration
    Available at any Illinois Secretary of State Driver’s Service Facility when you are there for their other services.

  • Online voter registration
    Offered through the State Board of Elections’ Illinois Online Voter Registration Application website (https://ova.elections.il.gov).

    You must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License or State Identification card to register online.

November 3, 2020 General Election

  • Public Acts 101-641 and 101-642, signed into law by Gov. Pritzker on June 16, 2020, requires those who register or update their address on an existing voter registration record between March 18, 2020 and July 31, 2020 to automatically receive an Application to Vote by Mail from the Lake County Clerk.

  • Due to COVID-19, the Lake County Clerk is encouraging all voters to vote by mail and avoid lines during Early Voting or on Election Day.  Vote in the safety and comfort of your own home. An Application for Ballot is available by logging onto LakeVoterPower.info, calling 847-377-VOTE or 847-377-2406, or emailing your name, address, and date of birth to VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov.

Who Can Register?

To register, you must be:

  • a United States citizen,
  • a resident of your precinct 30 days before the election,
  • 18 years of age or older on or before the November 3rd General Election,
  • Not be convicted and in jail, and
  • Not claim the right to vote anywhere else.

The Lake County Clerk’s office maintains all Lake County voter registration records and sends nightly uploads of this information to the Illinois State Board of Elections’ database.
