Construction Update: Wadsworth Road East of US 41

August 11, 2020

Repairs at the Des Plaines River bridge are complete and Wadsworth Road is open to both eastbound and westbound traffic. Note that Wadsworth Road remains closed at Dilleys Road as part of a separate project.

The frontage road at Wadsworth Road and US 41 is open to traffic and the old entrance is now a curb and sidewalk. Bike lanes have been constructed on both sides of the roadway, and the first layer of asphalt is paved. Large stone was installed on the north side of the roadway embankment to help prevent future erosion from the Des Plaines River.

Upcoming work includes widening the road shoulders west of US 41, paving the final asphalt layer, and installing pavement markings. New pavement markings will be used to show the new bike lanes and turn lanes.

Traffic Impacts: Eastbound Wadsworth Road over the Des Plaines River Bridge is now open. The new frontage road is open. Watch for trucks coming in and out of the jobsite. Please drive carefully through work zones.
