The Lake County Circuit Clerk's Office, in coordination with the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, is pleased to announce that this year's Lake County Amnesty Week will begin Monday, September 28, 2020 and run through Friday, October 2, 2020. During the week-long period, all collection fees and accrued interest will be waived on any past due fines owed on criminal and traffic matters in Lake County. Last year during Amnesy Week we were able to waive over $290,000 in interest and collections fees for individuals with outstanding balances and close out approximately 380 cases as paid in full. As our community continues to face challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic we hope that providing this service may ease a little of the burden that some individuals who owe on outstanding balances in the 19th Judciial Circuit Court may be facing.
As we continue to follow recommendations from the CDC and the Lake County Health Department regarding COVID-19, the Circuit Clerk's Office is dedicated to providing safe means for individuals to submit their payments during Amnesty Week. This year the Circuit Clerk's Office will be offering online, phone and mail options for submitting Amnesty Week payments to our office. While we encourage individuals to use alternative means of submitting their payments we will still be accepting in-person payments at any of our branch locations. Visitors to the Circuit Clerk's Office will be required to wear proper face coverings and practice social distancing while in any of our facilities.
More information on Amnesty Week including payment options, instructions and branch locations can be found on our website at www.lakecountycircuitclerk.org/amnesty-week.
